Freshman English Web assignment

Refine your internet searching skills and answer the question everyone is talking about!

Who was Anne Whately in the life of William Shakespeare?

The answer to this question may be more complicated than it appears at first so read and evaluate the information from a number of different sites. Your search results should contain the answer to the question and have a minimal number of hits.  Refine your search until you have an answer and a low number of hits. One hit is perfect. Anything less than five is excellent!

The primary purpose of this assignment is to give you the opportunity to arrive at an "answer" as a result of comparing information obtained from a number of different web sources. The secondary purpose is to give you an opportunity to become familiar with the features of Google Advance Search. You do not need to explicitly evaluate the websites you use for this assignment or supply "About Us" pages.

When you have completed your search and found the answer:

1. Type a one to two sentence summary of the answer;

2. From your Google search results page, copy and paste your search, the number of hits, and the hit that answers the question into a Word document. Do it exactly as is shown below.

3. Type your name on the document, print it out and hand it in.

Example of what to copy from your Google search results page (assumes first hit answers question):
